5 Ways To Add Anti-Inflammatory Turmeric Root To Your Life

Turmeric has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine and scientists believe that the reason why turmeric is so powerful is that it contains curcumin. But curcumin is not easily absorbed and has low bioavailability.   Black pepper contains an active component that enhances curcumin’s absorption: piperine.

Here are 5 ways to activate the anti-inflammatory benefits of turmeric!

1 - Drink Golden Milk: To make golden milk, mix 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric paste (made by mixing our Turmeric with black pepper with a little bit of water) with 1 cup of a milk alternative such as almond milk, in a saucepan and cook over medium-low heat for about 5 minutes. Stir inabout 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil or ghee butter before drinking. Add cinnamon, ginger powder and honey.

2 - Add it to your soup: A teaspoon of turmeric can be added to most soups without changing the flavour. It adds a nice colour to brothy soups and may help you fight a cold!

3 - Blend turmeric into a yellow smoothie: Dissolve the turmeric in a bit of warm coconut oil before blending it in, or blend in ½ an avocado for some fat. Then, add an orange, ½ banana and a carrot and blend it!

4 - Brew an Ayurvedic Turmeric tea: Bring 1 cup of water to a boil and then stir in ¼ teaspoon of our ground turmeric. Add 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and cumin. Allow it to simmer for 10 minutes and strain before drinking.

5 - Get glowing skin with this easy at-home turmeric mask recipe: Just mix some ground turmeric with a little coconut oil and apply it on your skin. Wash off after about 15 minutes.
